Biography

The basis of the progressive metal project MOONSCAPE was created by Håvard Lunde in late February 2015, as he started writing music for what would later become the project's debut album "Entity", released in early October 2017. The forty minute single track album format was very much inspired by EDGE OF SANITY's 1996 classic "Crimson", and Lunde saw it as a great opportunity to express himself musically within the framework of a large scale composition.

With great help from highly talented guest singers who performed their parts as different characters in the story, as well as incredibly talented guest musicians who provided lead guitars, keyboards and other instrumental additions to the recording, Lunde created an album that was both conceptual and personal, a record that received great response from reviewers and listeners around Europe and the US.

Just before the release of "Entity" in October 2017, Lunde started writing music for a follow-up album. Productionwise, he wanted to create a more direct sounding record, as a contrast to the more atmospheric debut, and he wanted to mix the album himself. "Entity, Chapter II: Echoes from a Cognitive Dystopia" took about three years to finish, and featured guest appearances from David Åkesson (Qantice), Pauli Souka (Coldbound), Drake Chrisdensen (Ruins of Elysium) and several others.

"The Throes of Desperation", an edit from the track "Bereavement, thy Scavenger" was released as a single in January 2020.

As the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the finalization of the album was put on hold for a while, and Lunde decided to write an acoustic single. "Here With You" was dedicated to his son, and was released two months to the day after Lunde started writing it, in May 2020.

Released in mid-September 2020, "Resurgence E.P" consisted of four tracks, including another preview from the forthcoming sophomore album, two cover songs and a properly mastered version of the "Here With You" track.

"Entity, Chapter II: Echoes from a Cognitive Dystopia" was released on November 23rd 2020, and received very favorable reviews.

In early December 2021 a remastered version of the "Entity" album was reissued on strictly limited editions on both CD and vinyl.

In early November 2022 the two track single "If Heaven Knows my Name" was announced, serving as a teaser to the upcoming album due for release in early 2023. The second track was an alternative version of "A Rendezvous in Time?", another track from the forthcoming album "The Continuum Synergy".
